Jetzt wird es ernst. Wir haben unsere Flugtickets für die Weltreise gebucht!!

Und wir haben uns für das Round the World Ticket von Star Alliance entschieden da es uns besonders bequem und sorgenlos erschien (richtig, wir sind Anfänger in Sachen reisen) und wir uns auf das Ticket verlassen können. Folgende Punkte haben uns überzeugt:

• kostenloses Umbuchen der Flüge solange Route und Stopps unverändert bleiben
• Star Alliance hat ein gutes Netzwerk an Fluggesellschaften und deckt alle Kontinente ab
• keine Preisvergleiche oder Flugbuchungen während der Reise nötig
• keine Unsicherheit, was man hat das hat man 🙂
• einfacher für die Budgetplanung, denn die Flüge sind größtenteils bezahlt
• einfacher bei der Einreise, bei der man oft ein Ticket für den Weiterflug vorweisen muss
• wir sind selbst schon oft genug mit Star Alliance geflogen und haben bereits Meilen gesammelt

Ein paar Nachteile bringt das Ticket aber auch mit:

• nicht die günstigste Lösung zu reisen
• man legt sich auf eine Route und auf spezielle Fluggesellschaften fest
• Route eingeschränkt durch Anzahl der Flugsegmente, Stopps, Meilen und der Flugrichtung

Und das ist die Reiseroute die wir mit dem Round the World Ticket festgelegt haben. Sie beinhaltet 15 Flugsegmente, 9 Stopps und insgesamt 31.704 Meilen Flugstrecke.

Berlin -> Lissabon (Portugal) -> Bogota (Columbia) -> Lima (Peru) -> Santiago (Chile) -> Buenos Aires (Argentinien) -> Auckland (Neuseeland) -> Hong Kong (China) -> Mumbai (Indien) -> Amman (Jordanien) -> Berlin

Hinzu kommen werden noch einige Flüge in Südostasien und Indien die wir separate buchen werden. Der Grund, warum diese Stopps nicht Teil des Round the World Tickets sind liegt ganz einfach daran, dass das Ticket auf maximal 16 Flugsegmente begrenzt ist. Ein Flugsegment bezeichnet eine Flugstrecke mit Start und Landung. Das heißt, dass Umsteigen in einen anderen Flieger ist dies ein weiteres Flugsegment.

Natürlich möchte ich euch nicht den Preis für das Ticket vorenthalten. Für unsere Route zahlt man mit dem Star Alliance Round the World ticket ca. €4000 pro Person für Economy Class, €5900 pro Person für Premium Economy Class.

Das war ein großer Schritt in Richtung Weltreise. Jetzt gibt es kein zurück mehr.

It’s getting serious. We just bought the tickets for our World trip!

We have decided to go with the Round the World Ticket from Star Alliance because it seemed to be the most comfortable and easy way to buy flight tickets (yes, we are travel beginners). These features convinced us:

• no extra charge for rebooking as long as route and stops do not change
• Star Alliance has a huge flight network across the globe
• no need to compare flight prices or book flights during travel time
• no uncertainy, you got what you got
• easier to plan the budget, because flights are already payed
• easier immigration, some countries require a return ticket at immigration
• we traveled via Star Alliance before and already started to collect travel miles

But of course the ticket also has a few disadvantages:

• not the cheapest way to travel
• no flexibility, the route and stops can not be changed
• constrains about flight segments and stops

This is the route we decided on booking with the Round the World ticket. It includes 15 flight segments, 9 stops and a total of 31.704 travel miles.

In addition to those stops we are going to book separate flights within Southeast Asia and India. The reason we didn’t book those as part of the Around the World ticket is the limitation in flight segments. The maximum of allowed segments is 16. A flight segment is defined by a single flight with start and landing. A connection flight is a separate flight segment.

I don’t want to keep back the price for the Round the world ticket from you. For the route that we booked you can expect to pay approximately €4000 per person for Economy Class, €5900 per person for Premium Economy Class.

This was a big step to make this trip happen. Now there is no way back.
